www.timothydanger.com

So the old man came up to me and said he wanted a portfolio type site that would take all of his blogs and incorporate them into one site.  It would also list his  current projects, articles he’s written, interviews he’s done, and short stories he’s written.  I said, okay! I can do this.

So I knew what had to be on the site, but I had no idea how to design it.  I wanted it to fit his personality… But his personality can’t really be depicted by a little website.  Hell, my website doesn’t depict my personality in the least bit, but it looks clean and professional. (kinda what I was going for)

I spent weeks trying to come up with some type of idea for a design.  Usually, ideas hit me pretty easily once I feel a person out and see what they are about.  Nothing came. I think the problem was I know him WAY TO WELL for my own good.   I kept asking Tim what he was looking for.  His response? I trust you.  Needless to say after a few weeks of this, I was ready to punch him in the throat.

So while at work one day, it hits me.  Simplicity.  KISS. (Keep It Simple Stupid).  And so I came up with this.  In the end, it really does fit his personality.  It’s masculine, has no frills or b.s. (something that stands out about the old man) and it’s kind of writery.  Sort of.  Anyway, It works well and he’s quite happy with it.  I finally finished it today and added the final touches.  Overall? This simple site took the longest to design. The sad thing is that the actual coding, etc. probably only took about an hour or 2.  It was coming up with how I wanted the site to look that took so long.  But In the end, I believe I got it.
